Most people pick a sauna brand by its “lifetime warranty” badge, but that doesn’t work. We broke down the warranty fine print on 32 sauna brands, and only 2 clearly put a lifetime warranty on the cabin itself in their own terms: Clearlight and Almost Heaven. Two of the biggest infrared brands, Sunlighten and Sun Home, define “lifetime” as seven years, parts only.
The best sauna brands for most buyers are Clearlight for infrared, Almost Heaven for traditional and outdoor saunas, and Backyard Discovery on a budget. Health Mate has the longest labor coverage we found. Below is the full ranking, who owns whom, and the brands we would skip.

How we ranked sauna brands
We scored each brand’s representative model with our scoring rubric: heat performance, build and wood, warranty, electrical ease, EMF transparency, owner feedback and value. Then we read every brand’s warranty page, checked who actually stands behind it, and looked for owner complaints on Trustpilot, BBB and retailer sites.
Warranty carried the most weight in this ranking because a sauna is a $2,000 to $10,000 purchase that runs hot for years. The difference between “lifetime, plus labor” and “seven years, parts only, you pay freight” is real money when a heater panel fails.

1. Clearlight: Best Infrared Sauna Brand
Clearlight wins because its warranty is the only true lifetime coverage on an infrared cabin we found. The warranty fine print covers the indoor residential cabin, factory-installed controls and wiring, heaters and audio for life, plus 7 years of labor. Unlike Sunlighten and Sun Home, the PDF does not cap “lifetime” at a number of years.
Representative model: the Sanctuary 2, a full spectrum 2-person cabin with carbon-ceramic heaters on the walls, under the bench and at the calves and floor, plus two 500W full spectrum heaters. It runs on a 120V 20A circuit with a NEMA 5-20P plug, around $7,299 at an authorized dealer.
EMF: Clearlight publishes two readable Vitatech reports from 2015 and 2016. They test bare 300W and 600W heaters, not a seated position in a current cabin, but they are more than most brands show. Outdoor models get 5 years on the cabin and 5 years of labor.
Owner feedback: 4.4 from 1,688 reviews on Trustpilot, with praise for build quality and design. The weak spot is service: complaints cite slow repairs and hard-to-get parts, and the company replied to only 6% of negative reviews. Transfer to a new owner needs Clearlight’s written consent. Full details in our Clearlight sauna review.
Corporate note: Clearlight is Sauna Works, Inc. of Berkeley, California. In 2017 it announced a licensing partnership to make Jacuzzi-branded infrared saunas.
View at Heal With Heat for Clearlight Sanctuary 2 Full Spectrum (opens in a new tab)2. Almost Heaven: Best Traditional and Outdoor Sauna Brand
Almost Heaven is the value leader for traditional saunas. Founded in 1977 in West Virginia, it says it manufactures in the USA, and it joined the Harvia family in 2019 per its about page (Sauna Marketplace says 2018). Its cabins and barrels come with Harvia heaters.
The warranty fine print shows a limited lifetime warranty on the room against manufacturing defects. The Harvia heater is covered separately: 1 year on elements and 5 years on other parts. The warranty is non-transferable, covers the contiguous US only, and excludes weathering and electrician costs.
Representative model: the Salem 2-person barrel, red cedar with 1-3/8 in ball-and-socket lumber and a Harvia 6 kW heater, around $4,485. Almost Heaven also builds most of Costco’s barrels and cabins under Costco-only names, starting with the Arcadia at $2,999.99.
Owner feedback on Almost Heaven’s reviews page praises easy assembly and fast replacement parts. Complaints cite missing or defective small parts, generic instructions, and surprise that the heater must be hardwired. One watch-out: the newer “Harvia Collection” barrels sold on almostheaven.com list Romania as country of origin, and so does the Sutton indoor cabin. See our Almost Heaven sauna review and barrel sauna guide.
View at almostheaven.com for Almost Heaven Salem 2-Person Barrel Sauna (opens in a new tab)3. Backyard Discovery: Best Budget Sauna Brand
Backyard Discovery, a Kansas company better known for swing sets, makes the best-backed cheap infrared cabin we found. Its indoor sauna warranty covers every component, including the cedar structure, glass, heaters, controls and wiring, for 5 years, and pays parts shipping. Labor is not covered.
It is also the one value brand with a real EMF test. The Rylan 2-Person links a signed Vitatech survey from February 2026 measured about 1.5 ft above the seat: 0.365 mG with the heaters on, measured by Vitatech, an outside firm. That is the only seat-height cabin report we found from any brand.
Representative model: Rylan 2-Person, around $1,999, on a dedicated 120V 15A circuit. The 4-person version holds 4.9 from 91 ratings at Sam’s Club. Product pages say the saunas are designed in Kansas and made in Vietnam or China.
View at backyarddiscovery.com for Backyard Discovery Rylan 2-Person Indoor Infrared (SKU 2504455) (opens in a new tab)4. Health Mate: Best Labor Coverage
Health Mate’s 2025 residential warranty gives lifetime coverage on the heater core, harness and wiring, and 10 years on the cabin, controls, lighting and audio. What sets it apart is 10 years of labor on factory-installed parts, the longest labor term we found.
Representative model: the Enrich 2 at around $5,300, in Indonesian mahogany. The Inspire 2 with app control runs around $7,400. Health Mate’s homepage calls its heaters “3rd party tested,” and an EMF document is linked, but we have not yet confirmed what it measures, so treat the claim as manufacturer-reported for now. We could not capture verified owner ratings.
View at healthmatesauna.com for Health Mate Enrich 2 (opens in a new tab)5. Sunlighten: Strong Service Record, Shorter Warranty Than It Sounds
Sunlighten has the biggest Trustpilot review base of the infrared brands we checked: 4.6 from 4,080 on Trustpilot, and the company replies to 97% of negative reviews. It holds an A+ BBB rating. It says it manufactures its saunas in Vietnam.
The warranty is where it falls behind. Sunlighten’s warranty page says “lifetime” is “defined as seven years”: 7 years on cabinetry and heaters, 3 years on controls, 1 year on glass and audio. It is parts only, the customer pays freight, it is for the original purchaser only, and it is void on a shared circuit or within 5 ft of water. Recurring owner complaints on BBB and Trustpilot mention failed power boxes and power supplies.
Representative model: Amplify II, a full spectrum 2-person cabin around $5,799. Read our Sunlighten sauna review and the head-to-head Sunlighten vs Clearlight.
View at shop-us.sunlighten.com for Sunlighten Amplify II (2-Person, Obsidian) (opens in a new tab)6. Sun Home: Good Specs, Young Brand, Read the Dates
Sun Home was founded in 2021 in San Diego. Its “limited lifetime (up to 7 years)” warranty applies only to orders placed from March 2, 2026. Eclipse and Pod orders on or before March 1, 2026 carry 1 year, parts only.
Its EMF headline is “<0.5 mG,” but its published Vitatech summary shows 0.6 to 4.0 mG at 1 ft from a heating element, with no model named. The full report is “on request.”
One more thing buyers notice: the Sun Home Equinox and Solstice match the published dimensions and wattage of the Sunlighten Amplify II and Signature I, and Sun Home’s warranty text for them matches Sunlighten’s word for word. Heater counts differ, and neither company names a manufacturing partner.
Representative model: Equinox 2-Person, around $6,099 on sale (regular $6,799), 4.8 from 121 reviews on Sun Home’s site. More in our Sun Home sauna review.
View at sunhomesaunas.com for Sun Home Saunas Equinox 2-Person (opens in a new tab)7. Redwood Outdoors: Best Support Among Outdoor Kits, Weak Warranty
Redwood Outdoors earns its spot on owner support: 4.3 from 364 on Trustpilot, with replies to 100% of negative reviews and praise for fixing parts and warranty issues. Complaints cite unclear instructions for roofs and pads, missing parts and shipping delays.
The warranty is the catch: 1 year on the sauna structure, the weakest in this ranking. Its Thermowood cabins and barrels use Harvia heaters, and a reviewer quotes the brand FAQ saying woodworking is done in China and Estonia. Representative model: Cabin 4-Person, around $7,599. See our Redwood Outdoors sauna review.
View at patioproductions.com for Redwood Outdoors Cabin 4-Person Outdoor Sauna (Thermowood) (opens in a new tab)8. Dundalk Leisurecraft and 9. SaunaLife: Premium Wood, Heater Extra
Dundalk Leisurecraft builds its saunas in Ontario, Canada, in western red cedar (Dundalk line) and eastern white cedar (Canadian Timber line). Current legal text on its site says 5 years, but one product page says 3. Heaters are extra and orders are made to order. Representative model: CT Serenity barrel, around $7,299 before the heater.
SaunaLife makes thermo-spruce barrels and cubes in Estonia. Dealers list a 5-year warranty on some pages and “limited lifetime” on others, every order adds $950 freight at Topture, and the heater is extra. Representative model: Ergo E7 4-person barrel, around $5,999 before freight and heater.
Both are solid builds with thin independent owner data. Confirm the warranty in writing before you order.
View at leisurecraft.com for Dundalk Leisurecraft Canadian Timber Serenity Barrel Sauna CTC2245W (opens in a new tab) View at Topture for SaunaLife Ergo E7 4-Person Barrel Sauna (opens in a new tab)10. Golden Designs, Dynamic and Maxxus: Cheapest Way In, Short Wood Warranty
Dynamic and Maxxus are brands of Golden Designs, Inc. of Ontario, California. Golden Designs’ About page lists Golden Designs, Dynamic Saunas, Maxxus, PRO 6, Dynamic Cold Therapy and Puretech as its brands, and Costco’s Dynamic warranty sheet names Golden Designs as warrantor. Golden Designs says it works directly with manufacturers and does not name the factory.
Every infrared cabin on costco.com is a Dynamic model, with prices from around $1,799.99 (Gracia) per a SaunaClear list dated September 23, 2026. Golden Designs lists that same Gracia at $3,499 on its own store, about double. Treat “sale” prices against those list prices with skepticism.
The factory warranty is 5 years on heaters and electronics but only 1 year on the wood, parts only. Costco’s posted sheet says 1 year standard and 3 years for Costco members. EMF claims are given in undefined “MG” units with no report. Our upcoming Dynamic sauna review and Maxxus review go model by model.
View at goldendesigninc.com for Dynamic Saunas Gracia 1-2 Person Low EMF (DYN-6119-01) (opens in a new tab)11. SunRay and 12. JNH Lifestyles
SunRay (Richmond, Virginia) says its saunas are built in its own factory, and its FAQ, as quoted by dealer Topture, puts that factory in China. Its product page lists 10 years on the structure and 1 year on parts and electronics, while a dealer’s copy of the warranty says 7 years. Prices sit about 50% under “regular,” which looks like a permanent sale. Representative model: Sedona 1-2 person cedar, around $2,398.
JNH Lifestyles (also Ontario, California, with no link to Golden Designs that we found) gives 2 years on heaters and electrical and 1 year on wood for most lines, with paid extensions. Its Arki line’s “Limited Lifetime” is defined as 7 years on heaters and 3 on wood. Its Trustpilot profile is unclaimed with no reviews. Representative model: Tosi 2-person full spectrum, around $5,199.

Sauna360 brands: check the recall first
CPSC Recall 26-784, announced September 17, 2026, covers about 41,580 infrared and hybrid saunas and infrared kits sold in the US under Finnleo, Helo, Radiant Health, Sauna360, Saunatec, Tylo, Tylohelo and Amerec (kits only). They were sold at Costco and spa dealers from May 2013 to July 2026 for about $6,000 to $13,000. The infrared panels can short circuit and overheat, with 67 reports of overheating, melting, charring or burning. Stop using an affected unit and contact Sauna360 for a free in-home repair.
The notice lists infrared and hybrid saunas and infrared kits and does not list traditional electric heaters, but check any Sauna360 product by model number. On the traditional side, Amerec’s heater warranty gives 5 years on parts and up to 2 years of labor. We did not rank Sauna360 cabins because their infrared and hybrid units sold through July 2026 are under recall and dealer pricing is not public.
Heater and portable brands
Harvia is the default heater brand: Finnish, founded 1950, with the widest range, 120V options, and UL listings on the US heaters we checked. HUUM (Estonia, 2014) wins on stone mass and design but its warranty excludes heating elements, and its Trustpilot shows 2.0 from 15 reviews, mostly element failures. Our electric sauna heater roundup ranks both.
For portables, The Pod Company leads: its Sauna Pod 2.0 reaches 185F on 120V with a 2-year warranty and 4.8 from 2,834 brand-site reviews. See best portable saunas.
Brands we do not recommend
Enlighten Sauna: 1.9 from 29 reviews on Trustpilot, 80% 1-star. Recurring 2025 to 2026 complaints cite refused warranty repairs, a warranty part paid for but not delivered, and late deliveries, and company replies cite backorders and understaffing. Its written warranty (7 years indoor, parts only, void on resale) looks fine on paper, but we would not buy until the complaint pattern changes.
HigherDOSE sauna: a 5-year limited residential warranty on a cabin priced around $7,999, plus $899 curbside delivery for the 2-person. Clearlight’s Sanctuary 2 costs less with lifetime coverage.
Healing Sauna and Relax Far Infrared: both portables. Healing Sauna publishes contradictory EMF and weight figures and no wattage or max temperature. A Relax retailer cites an FDA clearance that belongs to a different product.
For the full picture on EMF claims across brands, read our low EMF sauna guide. If you are still choosing a sauna type, start with the home sauna buyer’s guide.
Safety notes
- Health: talk to your doctor before buying or using a sauna if you have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, or take medications that affect sweating or blood pressure (Cleveland Clinic).
- Use: Harvard Health advises no more than 15 to 20 minutes per session. Avoid alcohol, do not use a sauna alone if you have a health risk, and get out if you feel dizzy.
- Wiring: use a licensed electrician for 240V or dedicated-circuit installs, and ask whether a permit is needed. Several brands void the warranty if the sauna shares a circuit.
- Health claims: a 2009 review found infrared sauna manufacturer health claims “poorly supported” (Beever 2009). Buy a sauna for the heat, not a cure.
